That last point matters most if you have a bonded wire behind your front teeth. Those are sometimes nicknamed permanent retainers, but the American Association of Orthodontists is clear that bonded retainers can still break or come loose and should be reported promptly. Tell the office on the phone that it is a bonded wire so they can tell you how it gets handled instead of you guessing.

What Retainer Types Can I Choose From?
